VITEBSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Artists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine gathered at the Ilya Repin Museum Estate Zdravnevo near Vitebsk for a plein air event dedicated to portrait painting, BelTA learned from the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.
The plein air event Zdravnevo in Faces and Destinies is part of the cultural and educational program of the Minsk Initiative humanitarian project which aims to enhance cooperation between artists and scientists of the three countries.
The event is held in a new format. Apart from artists (four from each country), the organizers invited writers to the event. On 21-24 August, talented artists and writers will do portraits of the locals whose faces and destinies appear interesting or significant. The works will then make part of a catalog which will be presented at the closing conference of the Minsk Initiative at the end of 2019.
The project is implemented by the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund with support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, the Belarusian and Ukrainian offices of the Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation, the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, Belarus’ National Art Museum, and Russia’s State Museum and Exhibition Center Rosizo.
