VITEBSK, 10 November (BelTA) - The International Festival of Modern Choreography (IFMC) in Vitebsk has been postponed to 2021, Marina Romanovskaya, deputy director general for special projects at the Vitebsk cultural center, told a briefing for the press, BelTA has learned.
This year the forum was supposed to take place in the last week of November for the 33rd time. "We prepared a diverse program with the participation of the most famous ballets from Italy, Russia, France, Belarus, Ukraine, a lot of related events (author's master classes, exhibitions). We had high hopes on the Evenings of Belarusian Contemporary Choreography featuring the IFMC winners of different years and their new premieres. Unfortunately, due to the epidemiological situation, we had to postpone the festival to the next year,” Marina Romanovskaya said.
Marina Romanovskaya noted that since September, as the epidemiological process was deteriorating, different options for the Vitebsk dance forum was considered: online, featuring only Belarusian participants, etc. For various reasons, including the inconsistency with the IFMC regulations, which are now in the works, all of them were gradually rejected. "We very much hope that we will be able to hold the festival without losses in 2021," Marina Romanovskaya added.
