MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – The seventh installment of the Minsk international biennale of young architects Leonardo 2017 has drawn together specialists from 17 countries, Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Architects Alexander Korbut noted at the opening of the 12th National Architecture Festival on 9 November, BelTA has learned.
Leonardo 2017 is one of the four competitions making up the festival’s program. “We think this is a unique contest. There are only three or four similar international forums of young architects in the world. It has a strong backing of the International Union of Architects. This year, taking part in the biennale are young architects from 17 countries with a total of more than 120 projects. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 11 November,” Alexander Korbut said.
The National Architecture Festival is taking place at the National Art Gallery (3 Kozlova Street) in Minsk from 9 to 11 November. Another draw of the festival will be the 18th national contest for the best architectural project. Aspiring architects are invited to participate in the 11th national contest for graduation projects of Belarusian architecture students. The lineup of events also includes the fourth national drawing contest for children. The National Architecture Festival will see exhibitions of designers, sculptors, national unions of architects of the CIS and non-CIS countries, and also master classes, presentations of firms and design companies, seminars, special conferences and forums to discuss the recent achievements and problems of architecture and urban planning.
