MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) - Ilya Shymanovich of Belarus claimed the second gold at the 2019 FINA Swimming World Cup in Tokyo, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian clocked 26.78 seconds to win the men’s 50m breaststroke. Second was Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi (26.88 seconds). Bronze was collected by Yasuhiro Koseki of Japan (27.05 seconds).
Earlier, Ilya Shymanovich celebrated a victory in the men’s 100m breaststroke.
Mikita Tsmyh of Belarus claimed bronze in the men’s 50m backstroke in 25.96 seconds. Russia’s Vladimir Morozov won the heat in 24.53 seconds. Silver went to Michael Andrew of the United States (24.87 seconds).
Alina Zmushka of Belarus finished 6th in the women’s 100m breaststroke in 1:07.51 to set a new record for Belarus.
The competitions are held in the 50m pool at Tatsumi International Swimming Center, which is to host the 2020 Olympic Games.
