MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – Foreign nationals leaving Belarus can get the Tax Free cash refund at 27 Belarusbank offices, BelTA learned from the editorial-and-publishing bureau of the Beltamozhizdat branch.
A possibility to claim the VAT refund in cash right at the border has been available since the start of the year: in January Kamenny Log became the first checkpoint to offer such a service to foreigners leaving the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union by car (before that the Tax Free cash refund could only be made at the Minsk National Airport). At present the Tax Free cash refund can be made at 27 Belarusbank offices at the border with Poland (Berestovitsa, Bruzgi, Kozlovichi, Domachevo, Peschatka, and Brest), Lithuania (Privalka, Benyakoni, Kamenny Log, Kotlovka), Latvia (Grigorovshchina, Urbany) and Ukraine (Novaya Guta, Novaya Rudnya, Verkhni Terebezhev, Mokrany, Glushevichi, Komarin).
Foreigners will not be charged a commission for claiming the cash refund at the Belarusbank offices located at these checkpoints. The refund makes up 15% of a purchase amount (VAT not included). Earlier the refund was made only to a banking card.
The Tax Free system is operated by Beltamozhservice in Belarus. Foreigners can shop tax free in over 500 stores in Belarus.
