MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes claimed five medals at the 2nd FIG World Cup 2017 – Senior Trampoline in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
In the men’s event Olympic champion Vladislav Goncharov of Belarus scored 60,755 points to place first. Second was Nathan Bailey of the UK (59,165 points). Bronze went to Oleg Ryabtsev of Belarus (59,100 points).
The women’s event was won by Yana Pavlova of Russia (56,065 points). Belarus’ Maria Makharinskaya placed second with 56,030 points. Viktoriya Voronina of Russia scored a total of 55,160 points to finish third.
Belarus clinched gold in synchronized trampolining. Maria Makharinskaya and Anna Gorchenok scored the highest of 48,700 in the women’s event, while Nikita Ilyinykh an Artyom Zhuk collected gold in the men’s event with 51,280 points.
It is great to win at home. My performance had no serious mistakes. I am also happy for our youth who managed to how their best at the Palace of Sports. I believe that the Belarusian national team performed great at the FIG World Cup in Minsk,” said Vladislav Goncharov.
The Belarusian athletes will now train for the Belarus Cup and later will travel to Portugal for the 3rd FIG World Cup. The 2017 Trampoline World Championships will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria on 5-13 November.
