MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – The Latin American research center opened at the international business communications department of the Belarusian State Economic University (BSEU) on 20 January, BelTA has learned.
Partaking in the opening ceremony were senior personnel of the BSEU, representatives of embassies of Latin American countries in Belarus, the Education Ministry, universities and schools.
“The decision to set up this center was made to enhance partnership of Belarus with Latin American countries. Solid cooperation between countries relies on mutual understanding. Therefore, the center will give an opportunity to lecturers, students and other interested persons to get credible information about Latin American countries, to conduct debates with foreign specialists and experts in this field,” Rector of the BSEU Vladimir Shimov said.
In his words, the work in the center will be conducted in various industries, namely economics, history, geography, art, ecology, politics, law, sociology, traditions, communications, international relations, etc.
Ambassador of Cuba to Belarus Gerardo Suarez Alvarez said that the information about the Latin American region will enhance cooperation between countries. “The establishment of the Latin American research center will become a springboard for cooperation between universities and participants of the Belarusian-Latin American projects to study problems of the Latin American region,” he added.
Charge d'Affaires ad interim of Venezuela Maria Antonia Cabeza is convinced that the opening of the center will be useful both for the university, for Belarus and for the Latin American region.
