MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – The European Figure Skating Championships wrapped up in Minsk with a spectacular gala performance on 27 January, BelTA has learned.
Taking part in the closing ceremony were Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, First Vice President of the International Skating Union Alexander Lakernik, Belarus’ Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk, and Minsk Mayor Anatoly Sivak.
Spain’s Javier Fernandez took his seventh consecutive European title in the Men’s Final celebrating a golden farewell in his last competition. Russian skater Sofia Samodurova clinched gold in her debut in the Ladies event.
Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres of France struck gold in the Pairs event. France’s Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron danced to their fifth consecutive title in the Ice Dance event.
Belarusian ice dancers Anna Kublikova and Yuri Gulitsky were 18th with 147.51 points.
Over 100 figure skaters took part in the European Figure Skating Championships in Minsk.
