MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarus won eight medals at the 2018 European Junior Wrestling Championship in Rome, BelTA has learned.
Belarusian Alexander Leonchik won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman wrestling event (67kg). On the way to the gold podium the Belarusian beat Sergei Grushin of Ukraine 6:5, Ismail Gun from Turkey 3:1, Norway’s Haavard Joergensen 3:1 and Joni Khetsuriani of Georgia 5:3.
Another Belarusian Maksim Negoda (63kg Greco-Roman) lost to Ukrainian Alexander Grushin 3:11 and thus settled for the second place. Belarusian Darya Senkovets (55kg) and Evgenia Andreichikova (68kg) won silver medals. Bronze medalists are Kirill Maskevich (Greco-Roman, 82kg), Nikita Strakh (freestyle wrestling, 65kg) and Yaroslav Slavikovsky (freestyle, 97kg).
