VITEBSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Performers from eight countries will gather for the 21st international song and music festival Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno, BelTA learnt from the Dubrovno District Executive Committee.
The forum scheduled for 27-29 June will be attended by professional and amateurs performers from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia, and Hungary.
The hospitable Dubrovno District has thoroughly prepared to meet its guests. Visitors will be invited to appreciate a dramatized historical re-enactment show and an exhibition of national cuisine clubs. The program of the festival will include a wreath ceremony at the monument to Anna Nikandrova, For Peaceful Sky campaign and screening of the movie Brest Fortress. On 28 June the guests of the festival will take part in a commemorative meeting at the memorial Rylenki. On 29 June the festival will feature an expo of arts and crafts. The festivities will culminate in a parade of the participants and a gala concert.
According to the district executive committee, the festival helps establish cultural contacts between countries, enriches the national culture and promotes a positive image of the district and oblast in general. Creative meetings lay foundation for future business negotiations.
The festival, Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno, was first held in 1993. Since 1995 partaking in the festival have been performers from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, the brotherly Slavonic nations united by the Dnieper River. Latvia joined the festival in 2006. A year later Lithuania and Estonia made part of the celebrations. In 2004 the song and music festival Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno received the status of the international event. The forum is held every June and marks the liberation of Dubrovno District from the Nazis.
