MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – Three-time Olympic champion and 2015 World Cup Total Score winner Darya Domracheva will be back on the track in German Oberhof on 6 January.
The Belarusian with bib 50 will have her first official race after her last World Cup start in Khanty Mansiysk in March 2015. She sat out last season recovering from Mononucleosis. She married Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjorndalen in July 2016 and welcomed baby daughter Xenia in October. The leading Belarusian biathlete decided not to waste time and got down to training soon after giving birth.
The first Belarusian biathlete to start in Oberhof on 6 January will be Darya Yurkevich (bib 11). Irina Krivko will start 44th, Nadezhda Pisareva 84th. Nadezhda Skardino will not take part in the forthcoming competition.
“Nadezhda Skardino caught a cold during the training camp in Ramsau. The doctors advised her to stay away from competitions for some time. Nadezhda Skardino continues training and plans to take part in the Women’s Mass Start on Sunday,” said head coach of the Belarusian national team Yuri Albers.
Belarus 5 TV channel will broadcast live the Women’s Sprint of the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 4 in Oberhof on 6 January. The start is at 16.05.
