Collector from Monaco to donate paintings by Belarusian artists to National Art Museum

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – A collector from Monaco will hand over some works by Belarusian painters to the National Art Museum of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the museum.

The handover ceremony is scheduled for 14 February. The famous collector, art expert, candidate of historical sciences Georgy Hatsenkov will donate pictures by People’s Artist of Belarus Alexander Kishchenko, Honored Artist of Belarus Vladimir Slobodchikov, sculptor Galina Gorovaya, painter Aleksei Marochkin, and others.

The exhibition Gifts to the Museum will run from 14 to 18 February. The exhibits will then become part of the museum's collection. The museum’s specialists will carefully examine, label, and restore the works, if need be. The paintings will go on display at the National Art Museum and other Belarusian museums.

“The artists themselves, their heirs, private collectors, and large organizations make an important contribution to the formation of full-fledged collections that represent the legacy of contemporary Belarusian artists. The gift of Georgy Hatsenkov shows that our compatriot cares about the Belarusian museums,” the press service noted.

Georgy Hatsenkov was born in Belarus on 6 May 1950. He has studied in Russia and worked as a radio and TV journalist. Georgy Hatsenkov went into business in the 1990s.

He started collecting works of art in the 1980s. Step by step, this hobby has become his creed. Founded by the married couple Georgy and Tatyana Hatsenkov, the MC Fine Arts gallery in Monaco comprises over 5,000 paintings and graphical works by around 500 artists.
