MOSCOW, 10 December (BelTA) – The presentation of the book Statehood. Belarus’ National Idea took place in Moscow on 10 December. The book was published by the Russian publishing house Knizhny Mir (Book World), BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia.
The book was simultaneously released by the New York publishing firm Global Scholarly Publications in the United States.
“The work includes articles of well-known scientists and experts from Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Poland, Russia, the United States, France and Switzerland who were united by their sincere interest and love to Belaya Rus. The book tells the story of the true Belarus, a young sovereign independent state, its nation-building experience, modern realities and prospects,” the press service noted.
Readers will find answers to many questions, discover a new Belarus, learn about the “Belarusian miracle” phenomenon and how this small country in the center of Europe that suffered most from the Nazis and the Chernobyl accident, that survived the economic breakdown of the late 20th century after the USSR collapse was able to preserve and multiply the most of the Soviet best heritage, transformed into a state for its people and how it advances its integration idea in the post-Soviet space.
In the book foreword Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei addresses readers: “The familiarization with various views on the Belarusian statehood in the historical retrospective promotes better understanding of the processes that are taking place in our country, learn more about the Belarusian society, see its transformation over the last decades. I believe this is what makes this publication valuable.”
Minister Counselor of the Belarusian embassy in Russia Pavel Lyogky stated in his speech that over a relatively short period of time Belarus has built its independent sovereign state that, despite being young, occupies a decent place in the international arena. “Today the Belarusian statehood concept is an accepted paradigm of development for the nation. Our statehood based on the ideas of peace, good neighborliness and responsible attitude to its historic mission has a huge constructive potential not only for the Belarusian society but also for all our friends and partners in international cooperation,” the diplomat stressed.
Attending the presentation were the book authors, well-known political analysts and experts. Among them was member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Igor Marzalyuk, Riga Duma MP Ruslan Pankratov, Director of the Institute of Globalization Issues of the Russian Federation Doctor of Economic Sciences Mikhail Delyagin, Professor of the Moscow State University of Foreign Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Yelena Ponomareva, head of the analytical center ECOOM, member of the Board of the Union of Writers of Belarus Sergei Musiyenko and many others.
