VITEBSK, 14 July (BelTA) - The Belarusian news agency BelTA has brought to Vitebsk its project "Destinies Folded in Triangle" developed jointly with the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History, BelTA reports.
The photo exhibition is located in Military Glory Alley in Pobeditelei Park. These are 18 stories of frontline soldiers, a collection of scanned soldiers' letters. They are full of hope and pain, thoughts and stories about combat and other ordeals.
"Slavianski Bazaar is opening tonight. The festival in Vitebsk always means a lot of smiles, a lot of friends and guests. But I think it is very important that we take the time to remember those thanks to whom this festival is even possible. Today, a large number of children and the elderly came to see our field post office. We told them that they can send a letter folded into a triangular shape to any place with a stamp of Orsha's Katyusha or Ushachi. This letter will reach any place in the world and people will know that Belarus remembers," said Irina Akulovich, Director General of BelTA.
Belarusian Information Minister Vladimir Pertsov added that the exhibition has organically fit into the events of the Slavianski Bazaar festival in the Year of Historical Memory. “The year 2022 was declared the Year of Historical Memory for a reason. Our ideological opponents, one might say ideological enemies, have recently made a lot of efforts to wash out the historical truth from the minds of our citizens, to replace the historical truth with lies, fake news, tall tales and outright nonsense about the Great Patriotic War, the Great Victory of the Soviet people. We counteract their attempts with the truth, historical facts and family relics, some of which are on display today. This is something that cannot be replaced by anything. We need to make digital copies of them for our descendants. We have the opportunity to get a feel of the memories, the emotions, letters and words of people who gave their lives for us to live now under a peaceful sky in our country," the minister said.
