MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarusian swimmers claimed 12 medals at the Serbian Open Championships which took place in Belgrade, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandra Gerasimenya of Belarus finished first in the women’s 50m freestyle in 25.36 seconds. Second was fellow Belarusian Yulia Khitraya, clocking 26.01 seconds. Aleksandra Gerasimenya was also the first to touch the wall in the women’s 50m backstroke (28.14 seconds).
Gold medals were collected by Yulia Khitraya in the women’s 100m freestyle (56.29 seconds), Anastasia Kuleshova in the women’s 50m butterfly (27.50 seconds) and Maksim Krepsky in the men’s 50m backstroke (26.52 seconds). Belarusian swimmers also won two silver and four bronze medals in the capital of Serbia. Competing in the event, apart from the hosts, were swimmers from Macedonia, Belarus, Turkey and Kazakhstan.
The Belarusian Swimming Championships will take place in Brest on 25-29 April. The FINA World Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary on 14-30 July 2017.
