MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – Winners of the president’s special prize Belarusian Sports Olympus 2016 have been announced. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed the corresponding decree to present the award for the efforts to develop and popularize physical education and sports in Belarus, BelTA learned from the presidential press service.
The prize has been awarded to Ruslan Vasilyev, an editor at the team sports department at the Sportivnaya Panorama newspaper, who has been working as a sporting journalist for more than 20 years.
The prize has been also presented to Elvira German, an instructor of the national track and field team, master of sports of the Republic of Belarus of the international class, holder of the scholarship of the President’s Sports Club.
Another prize winner is Alexander Shimkoviak, a basketball coach of the Grodno State School of Olympic Reserve, the head coach of Belarus youth basketball teams. Alexander Shimkoviak has coached many high-class athletes.
