MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – World champions Anastasia Prokopenko and Ilya Polozkov of Belarus won in the mixed relay at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, BelTA has learned.
At the start Anastasia Prokopenko won the fencing event. Before the final combined event of pistol shooting and cross country running the Belarusian duet was 21 seconds behind the Russian team of Gulnaz Gubaidullina and Alexander Lesun. Following several misses of the opponent Ilya Polozkov surpassed Alexander Lesun to secure the victory.
Anastasia Prokopenko and Ilya Polozkov scored 1,416 points in the mixed relay. Silver went to Gulnaz Gubaidullina and Alexander Lesun (1,402 points). Bronze was collected by Gintare Venckauskaite and Justinas Kinderis from Lithuania (1,368 points).
The Kremlin Cup international modern pentathlon tournament is mixed relay competitions. The prize pot is $100,000, the biggest in the history of modern pentathlon.
