Belarusian diplomat named Ambassador of the Year by Egyptian magazine

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt Sergei Rachkov has been named the Ambassador of the Year by the Egyptian magazine Diplomacy, BelTA learned from the website of the Embassy of Belarus in Egypt.

Sergei Rachkov was honored in recognition of his considerable effort and personal contribution to the strengthening of relations between Belarus and Egypt, achievements in the development of trade and economic cooperation. The Belarusian diplomat was included into the top ten heads of diplomatic missions from among more than 170 heads of embassies in 2018 by the committee of experts headed by former Assistant Foreign Minister of Egypt Nihad Asqalani. Among the award-winning ambassadors were also diplomats from Argentina, Germany, Malaysia, Portugal, Cameroon and others.

Diplomacy Awards top-25 ceremony was held for the first time. It took place in the Teeba Ballroom of the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis hotel and was attended by representatives of the government, the diplomatic corps, political and public organizations, businesses, international media organizations. Awards were presented to the best ambassadors, businessmen, politicians, and journalists.
