MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Culture Ministry suggests declaring 2016 a Year of Culture, BelTA learned from Belarusian Culture Minister Boris Svetlov at the session of the Ministry’s board held on 6 February to sum up the Ministry’s performance in 2014.
According to the Minister, it is time for high responsibility, selfless effort, business activity and reliance on one’s own resources and abilities. The Minister outlined topical tasks that all the Belarusian cultural workers will have to work on in 2015.
First of all, efforts will be put into the development and adoption of the government program Culture 2020. As far as legal support is concerned, work will proceed on the draft code on culture. The work is supposed to end in 2015. The legal base will be monitored for the sake of introducing amendments to the legislation in order to take care of practical needs.
Boris Svetlov drew attention to the optimization of costs in the area of culture, an increase in extrabudgetary revenues of organizations and volumes of sponsor aid.
The optimization of the personnel structure will be continued. The Minister stressed that it is important to analyze results of the effort to optimize the structure of cultural institutions, the number of personnel employed, and the influence on ensuring the quality of the services available to the general public.
