MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) - Belarusian Anastasiya Shkurdai won the second gold medal at the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships in Kazan, BelTA has learned.
On the final day of the tournament the Belarusian cranked out 26.23 in the 50m butterfly. Naele Portecop of France finished in second. She set the record in the semifinal with 26.21 but lost to the Belarusian in the final by clocking 26.29. The bronze medal went to Italian Costanza Cocconcelli (27.03).
In Kazan Anastasiya Shkurdai also won the gold medal in the 100m butterfly and bronze in the 200m backstroke.
After the junior championships, Anastasiya Shkurdai will go to the FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea on 12-28 July.
Thanks to Anastasiya Shkurdai’s three medals the Belarusian team placed fifth in the medal standings in Kazan.
