GOMEL, 9 February (BelTA) – Aerial gymnasts from the Mozyr circus arts center Arena have won three special prizes at the prestigious international circus competition New Generation in Monte Carlo, BelTA learned from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
For the first time, a Belarusian team presented an independent performance at the forum. The aerial trio comprised Viktoria Bagraenok, Stefania Turmovich, and Stanislav Plotnikov. The Belarusian aerialists were honored with prizes from the Principality of Monaco, the China Acrobats Association, and the organizers of the festival.
The Principality of Monaco played host to the international circus competition for the fifth time on 30 and 31 January 2016. It brought together young circus artists who received personal invitation from the organizing committee of the New Generation festival held under the patronage of Princess Stephanie of Monaco.
The Mozyr-based circus arts center Arena was founded in 2006. Around 100 children presently attend the center to master different circus skills. Among the students there are acrobats, equilibrists, aerial gymnasts, jugglers, and funambulists. In 2013, the center was given the title Honored Amateur Company of the Republic of Belarus. In 2014, they received the special award For Spiritual Revival for their contribution to the promotion of amateur circus art.
