Belarus to partake in Beijing International Art Biennale

MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) –  Belarus will showcase a national exposition at the Eighth Beijing International Art Biennale, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in China.

The national exposition will open on 30 August and will feature 25 artworks. The paintings and sculptures to go on display were inspired by folk art and made in keeping with the best academic art traditions of Belarus and the latest trends of contemporary arts. The exposition will feature the works by Adam Globus, Zakhar Kudin, Dekateka art association (Vera Yagovdik, Olga Koneva, Yulia Korzunova), Olga Orsik, Andrey Ostashov, Aleksandr Shappo, Ilona Kosobuko, Yuri Yakovenko, Sergei Seletsky, Tatyana Radivilko, and Sergei Grinevich. Among the exhibits are paintings, drawings, sculptures, and weaving artworks.

The national exposition is a journey into Belarus’ contemporary art and its main values, such as beauty, harmony, human life and belief in the good.

The event will run through 23 September. Belarus’ exposition is supported by XO Gallery and the Belarusian Culture Ministry.

The Beijing International Art Biennale is one of the world's largest cultural forums and venues to purchase works of art. In its unique formality and charm, the biennale is building up an international platform to promote the cultural and art exchanges between different countries and safeguard the diversity and abundance of global arts. Taking part in the event this year are the United States, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, Spain and Latin American countries. The Biennale will be held at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. The theme of the 8th Beijing Biennale is “A Colorful World and A Shared Future”.
