Belarus to introduce visa-free rules at regional airports, land border crossings

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – Belarus plans to simplify entry rules for foreigners willing to enter the country via regional airports and land border checkpoints, BelTA learned from Belarusian Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi at the plenary session of the Belarusian-Swiss Business Council on 26 November.

“We plan to expand our visa-free zones, simplify the entry for foreign visitors via regional airports and land border checkpoints,” Dmitry Krutoi said.

The government also hopes the Belarusian-Russian mutual visa recognition agreement will be signed soon. The move will promote business contacts.

“Visa-free travels represent a very important decision that has been made. At present visa-free entry is available in the Minsk National Airport and partially in Brest Oblast and Grodno Oblast. The program has produced serious results over a short period of time,” the economy minister stressed.

BelTA reported earlier that Belarus president decree No.300 combined two existing visa-free travel areas in Brest Oblast and Grodno Oblast into one. Five districts in Grodno Oblast were added to the new area. Those are Berestovitsa District, Volkovysk District, Voronovo District, Lida District, and Shchuchin District. Citizens of 73 countries can stay without visas in the specified area for tourism purposes for up to 15 days.

Meanwhile, foreigners do not need visas to enter Belarus and stay in the country for up to 30 days, provided they enter the country via the Minsk National Airport.
