Belarus to host Days of Tatarstan in June 2018

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – The Days of Tatarstan will be held in Belarus in June 2018, the press service of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim told BelTA following a meeting of the working group on Belarus-Tatarstan cooperation in Minsk.

The meeting participants summed up the results of the visit of a Tatar delegation to Belarus on 24-April, evaluated bilateral cooperation, mapped out new joint projects and measures to expand interaction.

According to Albert Karimov, Deputy Prime Minister, Tatarstan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, the working group has produced meaningful results. Last year, Belarus-Tatarstan trade grew 1.5 times to reach $1.2 billion. The Belarusian vehicles, products, furniture, and apparel are well-known in the Russian region. A direct air service was launched between Minsk and Kazan on 26 April.

Andrei Rybakov, deputy Belneftekhim chairman, thanked the Tatar partners for cooperation with the organizations affiliated with the concern and stressed that economic ties have been improving lately between businessmen, and also companies specializing in mechanical engineering and light industry.

During the trip to Belarus, the Tatar delegation visited MTZ, MAZ, the Polymir plant, Naftan oil refinery, Grodno-Azot, Belshina, and other mechanical engineering and petrochemical companies. The delegation held meetings in the Belarusian Industry Ministry, Belneftekhim Concern and the Belarusian National Tourism Agency. T

The Belneftekhim concern is officially responsible for the promotion of Belarus-Tatarstan cooperation. Belneftekhim chairman Igor Lyashenko heads the Belarusian part of the working group on cooperation.

The sides are now implementing the 2017-2020 action plan on Belarus-Tatarstan intergovernmental cooperation. In January-February 2018, bilateral trade surpassed $200 million (up by 36.3% from the same period a year prior).
