MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian national tennis team are ready to face Team USA in the Fed Cup final, captain of the Belarusian team Eduard Dubrov told the media on 8 November, BelTA has learned.

The United States team will include CoCo Vandeweghe, who reached the China Open final to make the WTA top ten, world number 13 Sloane Stephens, Shelby Rogers (World No.59) and Alison Riske (70).

Eduard Dubrov stressed that his team are in a good form and mood. Speaking about the absence of Victoria Azarenka, the captain said that she would be cheering for the Belarusian tennis players and would do her best to return to the national team in 2018.

According to Eduard Dubrov, there are no favorites in the forthcoming final. “The favorite will be determined on the court,” he said.

Arina Sobolenko said she would like to feel the support of fans at Chizhovka Arena.

Aleksandra Sasnovich stressed that she is always happy to be part of the national team. She also noted that she is always happy to speak with fans. She hopes that the fans will help the team show a good game.

The Fed Cup final between Belarus and the United States will take place at Chizhovka Arena on 11-12 November. The matches have already been sold out.

Belarus and the United States faced each other in the Fed Cup only once before. In February 2012 the United States won 5-0. It is the first Fed Cup final for Belarus. The United States has won the Fed Cup 17 times.

This season the Belarusians defeated the Netherlands 4-1 and Switzerland 3-2, while the United States outplayed Germany 4-0 and the Czech Republic 3-2.

Belarus is currently second in the women’s team standings, with the Czech Republic going first and the United States placing third.
