MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater and the Stavropol Academic Drama Theater are set to exchange tours from 29 September to 9 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian theater.

The Stavropol Academic Drama Theater will come to Minsk to open its 173th theater season. This is the second time the theater will perform in Belarus’ capital.

The first day will start with Falcons and Crows by Alexander Yuzhin-Sumbatov, a hundred-year-old but still modern and relevant play. The main characters are living in a romantic atmosphere of bright breathtaking feelings. The unexpected plot twists make the audience empathize with them and realize that becoming a puppet of your own emotions is quite dangerous.

The playbill includes the apocalyptic comedy Suitcase by Yuri Polyakov, the romcom Anyone Called for Bridegroom? by Andrei Ivanov, Marc Camoletti’s Boeing Boeing listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most performed French play ever, the melodrama Accompanist by Alexander Galin, and Robin Howdon’s sitcom Perfect Wedding. The tour will finish on 8 October with the comedy Aunts-in-Law scripted by Alexander Korovkin and directed by Mikhail Kovalchik.

The Stavropol Academic Drama Theater will also show two children’s plays: My Sister Mermaid by Lyudmila Razumovskaya and The Brave Tin Soldier by Hans Christian Andersen.

The tour will star such prominent actors and actresses as the People’s Artist of Russia Natalya Zubkova, Russia’s honored artists Vladimir Allakhverdov, Svetlana Kolganova, Mikhail Novakov, Alexander Rostov, Boris Shcherbakov, and other artists.

In turn, the Belarusian theater will perform at the Stavropol Academic Drama Theater from 29 September to 8 October. The Belarusian team has long wanted to go to Stavropol to show the the best and brightest plays of the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater.

Established in 1970, the theater has staged over a hundred plays. Many of them have made part of the post-Soviet cultural heritage and become big events in Minsk’s theater life. The theater’s repertoire features over 30 plays in different genres: classical operetta, musical, musical comedy, rock opera, ballet, children’s plays, and various concert programs.
