MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – The Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus suggests extending the visa-free stay for foreigners up to 15-20 days, Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk told reporters on 29 June, BelTA has learned.
Belarus is promoting medical tourism; therefore, it makes sense to increase the visa-free stay up to 20 days.
The decision to extend the visa-free stay has already been made. The question is about the duration of the new visa-free program. There are proposals to include more countries into this program. “All the proposals have been submitted to decision-makers as a single package. Our position is the following: more countries and more days,” Sergei Kovalchuk said.
The minister noted that regional airports might also be included in the eligible points of entry.
The extension of the visa-free program will be discussed in the near term, Sergei Kovalchuk informed. In his view, the bulk of concerns will be raised by law enforcement agencies. “This is a very delicate matter. We need to process large amounts of information and to come up with some mechanism. However, everything can be done if we approach the matter properly,” the minister is convinced.
