MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Soloist of the Belarusian National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater Oksana Volkova made her debut at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House. The mezzo-soprano has become the first soloist of the Belarusian Bolshoi Theater to perform on of the world’s renowned stages, BelTA has learnt.
The premiere was a success. Oksana Volkova sang the part of Maddalena from Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto. The Belarusian singer teamed up with a group of outstanding professionals and opera stars. Young Italian Michele Mariotti was at the conductor’s stand. The producer of the play is Michael Mayer who takes the Italian scene of the 17th century to Las Vegas of the 1960s. Oksana Volkova performed alongside with Zeljko Lucic, Diana Damrau, Piotr Beczala, Stefan Kocan.
Oksana Volkova is the Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, one of the leading singers of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus. The Belarusian performs at the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, the Nice Opera, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the San Carlo Theater in Naples and others.
The Belarusian audience will see Oksana Volkova at the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus in March. In April she will perform at the Columbus Theater in Buenos Aires.
