MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – The Belarus-Russia Youth Symphony Orchestra will play a concert in the Big Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic on 3 November, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Culture Ministry.

The orchestra’s repertoire includes outstanding works making part of the Russian and Belarusian musical culture. The concert will kick off with Six Choreographic Novellas by Yevgeny Glebov, the composer that defined the development of music in Belarus in the second half of the 20th century.

The novellas will be followed by a suite from the Vitaut ballet by Vyacheslav Kuznetsov staged at Belarus’ National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater in 2013.

The second piece of the program features Dmitry Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 7. This is the same program the ensemble performed on the stage of the Moscow Conservatory's Big Hall on 29 October

The Belarus-Russia Youth Symphony Orchestra was set up upon the initiative of the Union State Permanent Committee and the Union State Parliamentary Assembly in 2008. It comprises the most talented young musicians aged from 15 to 18. The team is a superb example of a kind of musical diplomacy.

Since its establishment, the orchestra has toured of the Union State (Moscow, Kazan, Kaluga, Minsk, Molodechno, Mogilev, Brest), Germany, Italy, Czechia, and the United Kingdom. The team’s successful tours are an example illustrating Belarus-Russia joint achievements in cultural cooperation.

The ensemble is led by two very active experienced conductors: Andrei Ivanov (Belarus) and Vyacheslav Valeyev (Russia).

The tour is organized by the Belarusian State Philharmonic, the nonprofit International Cultural Center (Moscow), the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, and the Belarusian State Academy of Music.
