Belarus president plants tree in Islamabad park

ISLAMABAD, 29 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko took part in the ceremony to plant a tree in Shakarparian Park in Islamabad, BelTA has learned.

Shakarparian Park is located in the historical center of Islamabad. If translated from Punjabi, the name means “sweet” and “place of recreation”. The Pakistan Monument is located on the western peak of the park’s hill. The Pakistan History Museum is next to it. The eastern peak where gardens are located is a popular park for recreation, walks, and picnics. Following the established tradition, the heads of state that visit Pakistan plant trees there as a token of friendship between countries. The tree planted by Alexander Lukashenko is the 125th tree in the lane.

Alexander Lukashenko left a note in the park’s distinguished visitors’ book. “I am delighted by Islamabad’s Shakarparian Park, which eloquently represents the unity of Pakistan and its sincere intention to live in peace and accord with peoples of the Earth,” the note reads. “May the tree I have planted today be a good symbol of friendly ties between Belarus and Pakistan, their dynamic development and prosperity.”
