MOSCOW, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarusian cinematographers have presented 19 films at the 25th international film festival Zolotoy Vityaz which is underway in Sevastopol from 22 to 31 May, BelTA learnt from the organizing committee of the festival.
The Belarusian films have made part of six out of seven festival competition programs. Natalia Galuzo’s Timur and Co. competes in the nomination Films for Children. Galina Adamovich’s Belarus. A Documentary Story is presented in the competition program of feature-length documentaries. Three films of Belarusian cinematographers are in competition among short documentaries: Sergei Kartyer’s Serbian Prima Donna Ivana Zigon, Yuri Gorulev’s Trostenets. We Should Remember, and Vyacheslav Makshun’s The Fog of War.
The Belarusian participation in the competition program of animated films is impressive. Six works of Belarusian animation cinematographers include Vladimir Petkevich’s Stork, Tatyana Kublitskaya’s Spring in Autumn, Igor Volchek’s Silly Pani and Clever Pan, Ruslan Senkevich’s What Dreams A Bear Sees, Yelena Petkevich’s A Fish Called Must Not-6 and Tales of the Old Piano.
Belarusian films are also represented in the competition program of debut and student works. Among them is Cactus, Fall Guy, Mother, A Monologue in Silence, Like Family, The Last Date, Warm Snow.
Belarusian filmmakers also make part of the international jury at the festival. People’s Artist of Belarus Vladimir Gostyukhin has been included into the jury of feature films, filmmaker Mikhail Zhdanovsky – the jury of feature-length documentaries, filmmaker Sergei Kartyer – student films, actress Alla Prolich – the competition of animated films.
The international jury awards Gold, Silver and Bronze Vityazes in every festival nomination. The Grand-Prix is awarded to the best film of any genre. Almost 200 films from 20 countries are taking part in this year’s film festival.
