MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – The New Year charity campaign Our Children will take place in Belarus from 10 December 2015 to 10 January 2016 in line with resolution No. 913 of the Council of Ministers, passed on 31 October 2015, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.
As part of the charity campaign heads of Belarusian government bodies, local executive committees will visit orphanages, foster families, family-type foster homes, children’s hospitals to wish Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and give presents to children.
Under the resolution, the New Year celebration will be held in the Palace of the Republic on 24 December. Children aged 8-14, including orphans, children left without parental care, children with disabilities, kids from refugee families, students of cadet schools and others will attend the event. Apart from that, the celebration in Minsk will welcome students of the Belarusian school in Riga, Latvia and the Francysk Skorina Belarusian secondary school in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The organizing committee of the celebrations in Minsk will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Kochanova. The committee will also include Education Minister Mikhail Zhuravkov, Information Minister Lilia Ananich, other representatives of government bodies, the Palace of the Republic and the Belarusian Television and Radio Company.
The resolution of the Council of Ministers also recommends the Minsk City Council and regional executive committees to hold New Year charity festivals for children on 26-30 December.
