MINSK, 20 May(BelTA) - Belarus has debuted in the Chinese project called as Music of the World of the National Center for Performing Arts, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Beijing.
Belarus was represented by the Vetakh group of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. The group was established in 1997 by Vyacheslav Kalatsei from among professional musicians and young people of Minsk as a post-folk group of bow and pipe music and singing based on the authentic tradition of Belarus. The group has performed at prestigious venues in Belarus and abroad, from Europe and the Dnieper to the Atlantic.
Before the concert Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Kirill Rudy noted that Belarusian musical art is a bright original phenomenon. The country first showed its folk music and dance in the Music of the World project in the Year of Education of the Republic of Belarus in China.
Launched in 2010, the project aims to promote intercultural exchanges and popularize musical art of the peoples of the world. It has shown more than 120 performances. The project has already featured Brazil, Spain, Mongolia, Romania, the Republic of Korea, South Africa, Estonia and many other countries.
