MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – World number 203 Aliona Falei of Belarus is through to the second round of qualifying at the China Open qualifying, seeing off Germany’s world number 85 Tatjana Maria, 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) in an hour and 35 minutes, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian will next face world number 143 Dalma Galfi of Hungary for a spot in the main draw.
Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka is seeded No.1 in Beijing. The main draw matches will be played in the Chinese capital from 25 September to 6 October.
Defending champion and World No.1 Iga Swiatek of Poland withdrew from the tournament ahead of the draw due to personal reasons.
