MINGECEVIR, 16 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian crew of Pavel Medvedev, Roman Petrushenko, Oleg Yurenya and Vitaly Belko claimed bronze in the K4 1000m event at the 1^st European Games on 16 June, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusians fought hard to reduce the gap to outpace the Czech quartet on the way to their bronze medal (3:8.827 minutes). The event was won by Hungary in 3:7.063, with Russia claiming silver (3:8.034).

Olga Khudeiko of Belarus finished 4^th in the women’s K1 500m clocking 2:5.507. Hungary’s Danuta Kozak won gold in 2:3.569, ahead of Austria's Yvonne Schuring (silver; 2:4.708) and Ewelina Wojnarowska of Poland (bronze; 2:5.389).

In the women’s K2 500m the Belarusian crew of Marina Litvinchuk and Margarita Makhneva were 5^th showing the time of 1:51.872. Serbia's Milica Starovic and Dalma Ruzicic Benedek won the event in 1:49.904. The Romanian pair of Roxana Borha and Elena Meroniac took silver (1:50.925). Anna Karasz and Ninetta Vad of Hungary secured bronze in 1:51.174.
