MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – Team Belarus claimed five medals at the World Draughts-64 Championships which is underway in Moscow Oblast, Russia, BelTA has learned.
Ihar Mikhalchenka from Volkovysk secured the world champion in the rapid program. Andrei Valiuk from Minsk collected bronze in the discipline. Maria Taranina from Minsk claimed silver in the women’s event. In the blitz game, Andrei Valiuk took silver, Ihar Mikhalchenka clinched bronze.
The championships will be over on 15 September. Competing are 80 athletes from 27 countries.
