MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian women’s national football team placed second at the international tournament Balaton Cup in Hungary, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Football Federation.
Belarus fell 1-6 to Serbia in the final. The only goal was scored by Valeriya Belaya. Eduard Demenkovets’ team opened the tournament with a 2-0 win against Romania. In the other semifinal, Serbia beat Hungary in the penalty shootout. Hungary defeated Romania 3-2 to claim bronze.
Belarus beat Romania 5-2 to raise the Balaton Cup trophy last year.
