MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ilya Chergeiko and Vitaly Bubnovich claimed 10m air rifle gold and silver medals respectively at the IWK Hochbrueck 2015 in Munich, Germany. Yevgeny Zaichik took the 10m air pistol silver, BelTA has learned.
Eighty athletes took part in the qualification where Vitaly Bubnovich finished 3rd with 628.5 points while Ilya Chergeiko was 6th with 627.4 points. The Belarusians showed their best in the final when Ilya Chergeiko scored 209.3 points to secure a gold medal. Vitaly Bubnovich trailed his teammate by 1.6 points to finish second with the total of 207.7 points. Another Belarusian shooter Yuri Shcherbatsevich finished 19th with 625.6 points.
Yevgeny Zaichik collected 197.4 points to claim silver in the 10m air pistol event. Russia’s Vladimir Isakov won the event with the total of 199.2 points.
The international competitions in Munich were one of the main stages for the Belarusian national team to prepare for the European Championship 10m in Arnhem, the Netherlands on 2-8 March 2015.
