MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – Belarus opened the 2015 AMF Futsal Men’s World Cup on a good note beating Brazil, one of the championship’s favorites, 2-1 on 17 April, BelTA has learned.
The fans did not see any goals in first half where Brazil held the initiative. Everything changed after the break. Belarusians found their offense, but it was Brazil that opened the scoring on the 31st minute of the game. Sergei Safonov’s men provided their response within the following minute. Dmitry Teslyuk made it 1-1. The decisive goal was scored by Vladislav Selyuk who put in the winner on the 34th minute.
Both Belarusians and Brazilians had more chances to score. However, all the efforts went ineffective, and the hosts of the 11th AMF World Championship won theri first match, becoming one step closer to the quarterfinal.
The quarterfinal games will be held at the Palace of Sports and Brest’s Victoria Sport Complex on 22 April. The semifinals and medal games will take place at Minsk Arena on 24-25 April.
