MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 13 Victoria Azarenka went off to a good start at the Champions Trophy in Melbourne, Australia, seeing off Kazakhstan’s world number 28 Yulia Putintseva, 6-4, 1-6, 11-9, in the round of Last 16 on 4 February, BelTA has learned.
The former world number one will next face either world number 339 Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States or Estonia’s world number 23 Anett Kontaveit.
Belarus’ world number 78 Egor Gerasimov will play world number 21 Felix Auger Aliassime of Canada in the round of Last 16 at the Murray River Open. The Belarusian defeated world number 90 Lloyd Harris of South Africa 6-3, 7-5 in the opener and solved Hungary’s world number 55 Marton Fucsovics 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in the second round.
