MINSK, 24 September (BelTA-Armenpress) – The photo exhibition Magic of Belarus, organized by the BelTA News Agency at the Marshal Baghramyan metro station in Yerevan, was visited by spouse of the Armenian president Nouneh Sarkissian. The project is held as part of the 1st Armenian International Photo Festival, BelTA has learned.
“The exhibitions of the festival made me really happy. I saw how different countries cooperate through photography. I saw the works from Belarus, India, Japan, China and Iran. Exhibits include the culture of these countries that unite not only individuals, but also nations, countries and religions,” Nouneh Sarkissian said.
According to Director General of the Armenian national news agency Armenpress Aram Ananyan, the agency set forth a number of initiatives during the Armenian International Photo Festival. “We displayed an exposition dedicated to the 150th birthday of Hovhannes Tumanyan. At the exhibition organized together with our Belarusian counterparts we demonstrated wonderful examples of the Belarusian photography related to rites and traditions. The exhibits represent a big interest,” he said.
According to Aram Ananyan, an exhibition marking the anniversary of Komitas is in the plans. “This is one of our first attempts to implement international projects which I find successful,” he stressed.
The Armenpress director gave Nouneh Sarkissian a photo album released on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of BelTA News Agency. He said that a joint exhibition of the news agencies of the two countries about the Spitak earthquake, which occurred on 7 December 1988, was organized in Belarus. The plan is to hold this exhibition in Armenia as well.
Nouneh Sarkissian saw the exhibition "Historic Legacy of Armenian Photography" near the Presidential Palace, took a stroll along several stations of the Yerevan Metro and got familiar with the exhibitions organized on the margins of the photo festival.
The first Armenian International Photography Festival kicked off on 26 August. It features the works of photographers from 20 countries, including Japan, Denmark, Italy, France, Russia, Belarus, Switzerland, USA, and the United Arab Emirates.
