Anna Guskova victorious at Belarus’ Open Aerial Skiing Water-Ramp Championships

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Anna Guskova of Belarus and Switzerland’s Misha Gessler were named winners of the Belarus’ Open Aerial Skiing Water-Ramp Championships that took place on 19-20 September, BelTA informs.

Four female aerial skiers performed at the new sport center Freestyle. Anna Guskova scored the highest 85.40 points to claim the gold medal. Russia’s Anna Orlova took silver with 75.52 points. A total of 70.46 points brought bronze to another Russian athlete Tatiana Babich. Alexandra Romanovskaya of Belarus finished four with 62.39 points.

Anna Guskova victorious at Belarus’ Open Aerial Skiing Water-Ramp ChampionshipsThe men’s event was won by Switzerland’s Misha Gessler who scored a total of 131.81 points on his jump with a 4,900 degree of difficulty. Silver went to Russia’s Piotr Medunich with 130.00 points. Dimitri Isler of Switzerland claimed bronze with a total of 125.44 points. Denis Osipov of Belarus finished fourth, scoring a total of 120.81 points. Fellow Belarusian Maxim Gustik took the fifth position (105.43 points).

One of the competition favorites, Alexander Abramenko of Ukraine, failed to reach the super final.

The prize money were distributed in the following way: the winners received $3,000 each, silver medalists earned $2,000 each and bronze medalists were given $1,000 each.

The award ceremony of the winners and medalists of the competitions was preceded by a ceremony to honor outstanding Belarusian aerial skiers: 2010 Olympic champion Alexei Grishin and two-time medalist of the Winter Games (1998 and 2006) Dmitry Dashchinsky.
