GRODNO, 6 June (BelTA) – The 10th edition of the Festival of National Cultures will kick off in Grodno on 6 June, BelTA has learned.
The oblast center is ready to welcome numerous participants and guests of the interethnic forum. The city’s downtown will turn into a pedestrian area for the event.
A busy three-day program of the festival will open with two photo exhibitions. The concert hall of the Grodno Cultural Center will feature a photo expo of the Commissioner’s Office on Religious and Ethnic Affairs of the Republic of Belarus dedicated to the memorable events that took place with the participation of national associations of Belarus in 2012-2014. The New Castle will host a presentation of the Center of National Cultures and a photo exposition showcasing the history of the festival of national cultures. The festival’s postal event will be held on 6 June. Visitors will see the uniform of postal workers, postal marks and stamps, envelopes, cards of various years and modern postal services. An Alley of People’s Friendship will be laid in the Kolozha Park. At 21h00 local time the participants of the festival will walk in a solemn procession from Sovetskaya Square to Lenina Square. The opening of the forum will be held in an unusual night format, with concerts at Lenina Square. The first day of the festival will be wrapped up with spectacular fireworks and a show featuring Russian and foreign singers.
22 national homesteads will be deployed on the second day. Every farmstead will present a separate country and will show the diversity of cultures. The farmsteads will offer dishes of national cuisines, national choreography events, a gala concert of national communities, a show-presentation of national costumes, numerous exhibitions, concerts and other programs. Sovetskaya Square will make one big open-air restaurant. The oblast drama theater will gather national cultural communities to name the winners of the current festival. On 8 June the forum will continue festivals of the national humor and the national theater art.
According to the organizers of the festival, performing in Grodno will be about 200 collectives and singers. Partaking in the festive events will be nearly 900 representatives of 36 nationalities.
