Year of Youth in Belarus

Choosing the focus theme for a year has become a good tradition in Belarus, a reason to pay close attention to national priorities. For instance, during the Year of Hospitality Belarus hosted the ice hockey world championship and highlighted image-building tourism projects, the development of infrastructure and efforts to attract visitors from various countries. The year 2015 has been declared the Year of Youth. By the way, the idea to hold the Year of Youth was suggested to the head of state by young Belarusian leaders during the forum Youth. Traditions. At present there are over 2 million people (about 23% of the population) aged 14-31 in Belarus. The country always pays attention to the development of creative, scientific, and professional potential of young Belarusians, to resolving their problems, to getting the younger generation involved in managing the country, in taking part in social and economic reforms… During the Year of Youth all the projects and initiatives come to the forefront, the development of the youth policy development strategy for 2015-2020 has begun.

All over the country interesting events for young people are arranged as well as contests of ideas and startups, forums to discuss topical problems… The 42nd congress of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) was one of the first top events of the Year of Youth. The Belarus president took part in the congress “Youth of Belarus: Traditions and future” that was held in January 2015 in the form of an open dialogue.

Apart from that, in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War young Belarusians take an active part in the organization of celebrations, events meant to honor war veterans and help the elderly. In honor of the deeds and courage of Belarusians during the youth forum the leaders initiated the patriotic action Flowers of the Great Victory!
