The commemorative meeting was followed by a large-scale historical reenactment of the beginning of the war and the Brest Fortress defense which became the biggest event of the kind in recent years. A theatrical performance at the Kobrin fortification brought together about 15,000 people. Partaking in the reenactment of those legendary events were about 600 members of more than 50 military history clubs from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Austria, Germany, Poland and Japan.
The reenactment included the most important episodes of the fortress defense. It showed the central fortification, the Eastern fort, the Western island, the 9th frontier outpost which fought near the Terespol Gate. Apart from the battles, the reenactment included the scenes of the imprisonment of women and children, executions of peaceful residents by Nazi invaders.
Heavy military vehicles as legendary T-38 tanks were used in the reenactment.
