By holding book fairs the state demonstrates its deep understanding of the importance of reading, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Alireza Sanei said at the opening of the 21st Minsk International Book Fair, BelTA has learned.
"Undoubtedly, the willingness of states, including the Republic of Belarus, to hold book exhibitions, to preserve books and popularize reading and to celebrate and encourage writers, scientists and cultural figures testify that the state has a correct and deep understanding of the significant role of books and reading, writers, scientists and publishers and their impact on the development and prosperity of human society," Ambassador Alireza Sanei said.
On the other hand, he noted, this mission is the responsibility of states as a time when the development of science and technology, when the humanity is transiting to digital life, have led to a decrease in the general interest, especially of the younger generation, in books and reading.
