Parliamentary elections 2016 in Belarus: NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES

One of the most active phases of the parliamentary election campaign 2016 – the nomination of candidates to deputies of the House of Representatives – started on 3 July. Citizens, who wants to represent voters and participate in the legislative process, have 30 days to get nominated. 

In Belarus potential candidates can get nominated in three ways: through collection of at least 1,000 signatures of voters (with the help of a registered initiative group), by a political party or a labor collective.

The registration of candidates will be held from 2 to 11 August. After candidate certificates are issued by the CEC, the registered candidates for seats in the lower house of the parliament will be able to launch their election campaign.
