The 25th Minsk International Book Fair

The 25th Minsk International Book Fair
28 Feb 2018

The 25th Minsk International Book Fairwas opened today. The fair brought together the 360 best book publishing companies, printing enterprises, and book distribution companies from 32 countries. Serbia is a guest of honor while Kazakhstan has stolen the spotlight. The Year of the Native Land and interaction of  Belarusian writers with foreign colleagues are in the center of attention. This is why the key theme of this year’s forum has been determined as Belarus: the Cultural Platform of Europe.

Opening the forum, First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov read out the head of state’s welcome address to participants and guests of the fair. The official noted that Belarusians treasure and respect books. Indeed, despite information technologies vigorously making inroads into the life of the society the demand for book products is still great: about 10,000 book titles were published in Belarus in 2017.

For five days the largest book forum of Belarus and the CIS states will keep participants and guests happy with its extensive program. The variety of events include presentations of the latest books by the best publishing houses of Belarus and the world, meet-the-artist events and autograph sessions of prominent writers, discussions and roundtable sessions, contests and workshops for young writers…

The opening ceremony, guests of honor, and the first few visitors of the 25th Minsk International Book Fair are covered by the photo report.
