Belarus opens 47 polling stations abroad for parliamentary elections

MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – As many as 47 polling stations have been set up at diplomatic missions and consular services abroad for the Belarusian parliamentary elections, Spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 8 September, BelTA has learned.

“Just like on the territory of Belarus, the polling stations will be open from 8:00 to 20:00 on 11 September. People can also cast early votes from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 local time,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that virtually all international observers have arrived in Belarus. The CIS is represented by 333 observers, the OSCE/ODIHR – by 341 observers, the OSCE PA – by 39 observers, PACE – by 19 observers, the SCO – by 9 observers. Besides, the Central Election Commission has accredited 65 representatives of diplomatic missions and 14 members of foreign election authorities as observers. “The Belarusian side and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provide every assistance to international observers and hope for their objective evaluation of the elections,” the spokesman said.
