Olympics 2016: Belarus’ Gerasimenya takes 50m freestyle bronze
MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Belarusian Aleksandra Gerasimenya clinched the swimming bronze in Rio, BelTA has learned.
In the 50m freestyle final the Belarusian clocked 24.11 seconds to set a new record for Belarus.
Pernille Blume of Denmark won the Olympic 50m freestyle title in 24.07 seconds. Simone Manuel of the United States clocked 24.09 for silver.
At the 2012 London Games Aleksandra Gerasimenya took the 50m freestyle silver in 24.28 seconds. She also won the 100m crawl stroke silver there.

Four years after you returned to the Olympic podium and made numerous Belarusian fans happy by your scintillating performance. We believed in you till the very last moment, and you did not disappoint,” the head of state stressed.
